Obstetrics Gynaecology

The Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology provides health services to women of all age groups, including concerns of adolescents and postmenopausal women. It is well-equipped for providing prenatal, natal and postnatal care. Ultrasonography, video colposcopy, and laparoscopy facilities are available for prompt diagnosis and treatment. Caesarean section & vaginal delivery are carried out in large numbers. Specialized clinics also address infertility issues and family welfare. The department is involved in vigorous teaching and training of Undergraduates & Postgraduates and has several research publications to its credit. Continued Medical Education (CME) Programs are organised frequently to stay up-to-date with recent advances.

Treatment Facilities

We have a well-staffed and equipped labour room and a dedicated operation theatre. Daily antenatal and gynaecology outpatient clinics are conducted from 9:00 AM to 2:45 PM. Special clinics include Cancer, Family Planning, Gynae Endocrine, High-Risk Pregnancy, Postnatal, Infertility and Menopausal Clinic.

Emergency services are available 24x7, including deliveries and cesarean sections. Services include hysterectomy, myomectomy, ovarian cystectomy, laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, infertility treatment, and procedures for female gynaecological malignancies.

We have the latest equipment for diagnosing pre-cancerous and cancerous lesions of the female genital tract, including Digital Video Colposcope and Cryosurgery. All types of malignancies of the female genital tract are being operated such as cancer of the ovary, uterus, cervix etc.

  • High Risk Pregnancy : Monday, Wednesday, Friday (9 am to 1 pm)
  • Cancer Clinic : Daily (9 am – 1 pm)
  • Infertility Clinic : Thursday (9 am – 1 pm)
  • Gynae Endocrine Clinic : Monday (9 am – 1 pm)
  • Family Planning Clinic : Daily (9 am – 1 pm)
  • Menopause Clinic : Thursday (9 am – 1 pm)

Academic Activities

The department provides a dedicated academic curriculum, including comprehensive obstetrical care, family welfare, infertility management, prenatal diagnosis, cancer treatment, endoscopic surgery and menopause management.

The medium of instruction includes lectures, seminars, journal club and case presentations, ward teaching, bedside clinics, hands-on surgical training, and Research Mentoring.

The department offers the degree of M.S. in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and a Post-degree certificate course [PDCC] in High-risk pregnancy and fetal medicine, besides training undergraduate students and interns.
