Department of Molecular Diagnosis Unit

Molecular Diagnosis Unit

ELMC&H always harness technology for the benefit of the masses, hence from time to time we acquire the latest and the most advanced equipment’s which are rarely available at other places. Presently we are providing PCR based detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and HLA-B27 and in the near future we intend to expand our diagnostic work.

Mycobacterium tuberculosis (TB):

Presently we are engaged in TB detection using PCR in various samples like blood, Cerebrospinal fluid, pleural fluid, bal fluid, synovial fluid, sputum , endometrial tissue etc.

The Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA-B27):

HLA-B27 is strongly associated with ankylosing spondylitis and other associated inflammatory diseases referred to as "spondyloarthropathies". We are engaged in HLA-B27 detection through PCR in blood samples.

Molecular Biology Unit

  • This unit is involved in the genetic-level research to gain newer insights into the molecular mechanisms especially genetic polymorphism/expression analysis underlying normal and abnormal molecular processes, and their relevance as targets for improving health and combatting diseases.
  • Available all facilities and instruments/machines required for the execution of our research like PCR Machines, RT-PCR machine, Cooling Centrifuge, Autoclave, Laminar Hood, Gel-Documentation system, Electrophoresis units etc.
  • Extramural projects and publications in Journals of International repute like JRAAS, Gene, Metagene, Journal of Biomedical Sciences, Opthalmic genetics etc.
