Content

Our focus is on regenerative medicine, which encompasses the use of stem cells (murine & human), nanoparticles and targeted drug/gene delivery in neurodegenerative diseases.

Our basic research involves how best to utilize stem cell therapy to treat Stroke and Spinal Cord Injury (SCI). We strive to understand the survival and death cues for stem cells in an oxidative and inflammatory microenvironment. We are interested in identifying mechanism/s underlying survival and death, and the ways to reverse those events. Employing a broad array of modern molecular and cell biology techniques, our focus is not just limited to molecular characterization of cell death/survival pathways but also lead to the identification new types of drug targets.

We are also interested in exploring the role of various cytokines/chemokines and their receptors in homing of stem cells. We also aim to develop novel treatments for stroke & SCI eg. Nanomedicine
